If you've been using either of the RSS widgets, you've probably noticed that they stopped working when XFN changed layouts, due to a change in the RSS address. The Yahoo! and Dashboard widgets have been updated and are back online and available for download from the XFN Gadgets Page of the Support XFN Section. 

 

The syndicated RSS feed on LiveJournal should be back in the next few days. We are currently waiting for the LJ Support Team to update the account's RSS address. If you've been using the RSS feeds for anything else, you'll have to update the URL. The new feeds can be found under the XFN Help Section.

 

Additionally, we have a new Featured Article: Upcoming TV Appearances. As mentioned in the article, TNT will be airing a special promo for XF2 during tonight's 9:00 episode of The Closer. The Discovery Channel will also be airing a "sneak peak" at the movie during tomorrow's 9:00 PM episode of The Deadliest Catch.

 

The XFN Team will be working on the site over the course of the next few days. If you notice anything awry, please be patient -- we are most likely tinkering with that particular item and it will be functional again soon. 

The purpose of this post is twofold.  First, I want to see how posting here works, since I've been doing mostly back end stuff lately and haven't had the chance to try out posting from the front end.  It seems pretty self-explanatory, so yay for that.

 

The second purpose is to say that the RSS widgets are currently offline because the feed address has changed.  It's an easy fix -- I've fixed it on the copy I'm running, actually -- but I'm holding off on posting the updated versions for another day or so.  I want to make sure the site is going to stay up and running and that I'm happy with the particular feed I've chosen.  (It's the Latest News feed, which displays the six most recent headlines.)  The LiveJournal  syndicated account should be back in working order soon as well -- I submitted a Support ticket to have the LJ team update the feed URL to the Latest News feed.

 

The widgets will most likely be back Monday afternoon or evening.  On the off chance that Monday is a big news day, then they'll be up Tuesday.

The announcement of Gillian's upcoming TV appearances prompted us to add a new section to the site.  If you glance on over to the left of your screen, you'll notice a new link for our brand new UPCOMING APPEARANCES page.

It's pretty self-explanatory: a guide to when and where X-Files actors will be making television appearances to promote the movie.  As the page says, all new information will still be announced in front page posts -- the UPCOMING APPEARANCES page is just there so you don't have to write yourself a hundred little Post-It notes.

The page is new, so it's subject to some tweaking over the next few days, but we feel that it's a solid idea that might make being a Phile just a little easier -- especially for those who don't have TiVo to recommend programs involving David or Gillian.
