One is leaving... One is arriving... |

I stop the preparations of a New Years Eve dinner to give some words to the philes and all the people that were part of what many have titled "The Year of the Phile"
I realize that in many latitudes 2009 has arrived already, celebrations are on full blown manner, and people may already be on their beds exhausted after partying, but that won't stop me from adding some parting words to good old 2008.
On a year which main events cooked up in 2007, nothing could had prepared us for the rollercoaster that this 12-month party has been; so many fan gatherings, so many experiences, so many new friendships, one movie, thousands of tears, of smiles, of screams, but over all, a year that may never be forgotten, because in many ways, it changed so many lives.
Besides the obvious references to economy and political matters that have made 2008 conflictive, it was a year of hope, of emotions, of risks, a time to live life at its fullest for many of us, and I wish, from the bottom of my heart, that 2009 learns from its now departing brother, and provides us with new opportunities, new desires, more strength, forgiveness, patience and love for mankind.
Back when 2008 started, I followed a tradition of doing something different the first 12 days of the year, and writing all the experiences down. I went back to that diary today, those 12 days back in January were exciting, unexpected, new, hopeful, some conflicted, some just a piece of heaven... If I were to believe that each one of those days represented each month of this year, I think it pretty much sums it all up maybe by coincidence, but I will sure keep this tradition in mind.
I invite you to seize the day, to plan, but not to expect, to see the good and keep the hope, to dare, to try, to fight... in one word: Live.
Thank you for being part of this community; Philes may be the answer to every heartache, to every question, and the future of a world that may be bitter and cold. I've experienced that if something has been created out of this fandom is the wonderful sense of a Family that we all belong to, that we all count on, and that at the end, we all relate to.
If The X-Files were to leave something for posterity, besides the obvious achievements that has already brought to this world, would be the fact that, without knowing or planning it, it created families and friendships that are not tied to convenience, but tied by bounds that may be stronger than iron.
May the year 2009 bring all of your desires and leave you wanting more. Hope to see you around.
Good Bye, Year of the Phile, I shall remember you as you were: Great, Exciting & Unique.

So is 7:30 am, in Caracas time.
Today we have to wake up early to go vote for the Regional Elections, a big deal since is our chance to regain many states that were almost secuestered by Chavists back in 2004... a democracy is not a democracy if everything is in one hand. I'm already hungry for some reason... or it might be nervousness...
Today is the last day of postproduction for the XFN project. Audio phase is already done, the graphics are done as well, I have to pick up the master matrix and mix em together when I come back from voting. Lisa, Tiff and I have seen some of the end result, over this past week, from which I will give a longer story after the video is out... but what I can tell you right now is that this project has really made my life happier... it has changed it.
I can't wait for you to see it!
Remember, today is also the last day for the Cereal Box Voting! Results are announced tomorrow! And I can't be more excited at this anticipation for the DVD/Bluray coming out for real!
See you soonish!

So... some of you know that I'm a freelance producer, and that I live in Caracas, Venezuela. Today, I woke up and pushed my tired bones to my car, the 12 stories down the flight of stairs that now I have to walk everyday since the elevators are condemned... Don't ask.
So today's feature was to scout for locations for this series of documentaries I'm producing, and they involve going to remote places to look for things such as the head of a river, or a strange rock formation, etc. So the director had heard that there was this National Park that is custodied by the National Guard and that great landscapes could be seen... so, I got a little paranoid... why would a National Park be guarded by them, I mean Park Rangers is all that's about... right?
So we get there, we park down this rural street and the director says, "yeah, let's hike a little up there and about" and so we did, by the side of this wire fence, not going by any particular entrance just walking on the sides, the fence stopped and high pastures were in front of us. We walked thru mud, and walked in the scorching sun, found the river, took notes, went over this hill and found... the instalations of a MILITARY BASE... yes, you heard right... a Military Base... Buildings, barns, offices, etc... Modern stuff and lots of people going around, vehicles, training etc.
My jaw dropped. This wasn't just a National Park, this was a full on military territory that we had trespassed!
So I'm like... "Yeah, we're so getting busted here..." I turn around and tell the director, "Yeah, you know, we might be getting arrested," as if fearing memory loss wasn't in my mind as well, "We should like leave and all..."
Though luck.
We hadn't walked for like 10 minutes when this patrol jeep comes by and 3 uniformed guys climb down, guns in hand, screaming "Halt!" Hmm, I was already thinking of the twitter message I would write.
So being a girl and all, shameless I know, I blinked cute and said, after hearing that we had tresspased restricted military space... that we had no idea this was something private or secret... inmediatelly, the privates exchanged looks saying: "Ma'am (yes ma'am, no respect for my 26 young yrs) this ain't no secret place," nervious look again, "this is just restricted, and we have to escort you out to your vehicle"
Longest story short... we covered it up asking for the requierements for film permits and security measures... but still were followed out until our car was out of the grounds of this "National Park"
After getting back to Caracas, dropping the director at her place, eating at the car, while waiting in rainy and traffic packed streets, running errands and on the phone, going to the bank to cash my check remembering "Monday", and finally climbing up the 12 stories to my apartment... I realized why on God's name Mulder slept on his couch...
I mean, this guy was EXHAUSTED!
I got inside of my apartment and dragged my ass to my couch, I could not muster one more step to my bed, or to kick off the shoes, or nothing! No wonder it took all of those years to finally get it on with Scully!
I mean who would like to "do it" and get "thrown in desperate passion" if you have bruises everywhere, smell like dry sweat and greasy side road food, let alone the sticky clothes adhered to your skin, aches everywhere and barelly able to breathe? Add to that list, shot, without memory, worried about the latest threat and carrying the weight of the world in your shoulders... for God's sake!?
I was escorted down in a military jeep, another one for my album of interesting meets with the Law enforcement... |

So, have you waited in line to see a movie??
Of course you have! You all were on July 23rd under the bitter sun, waiting for the chance to see all the peeps in their latest fashion and then ended up munching popcorn with Mitch Pillegi, bumping into Gillian Anderson, gazing at David Duchovny and yes, shaking hands with the lords of awesomeness themselves, Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz.
Me, I couldn't be there, so I didn't stood in line.
But yesterday, two weeks after the movie opened in Venezuela, I bought a ticket online to go watch IWTB, in one of the few theaters that are still showing the movie, cause god forbid they give the space to a good movie when something as important as "Saw 5" and "Tropic Thunder" need the spot. Ack (insert your favorite curse word) *sigh* |

Ok so I meant to post this yesterday, you know, to continue with my modus operandi of posting ramblings on sundays, but XFN has all of my free time booked just like Scully books Mulder's theatrical dates. So... on that note, for any of you reading this blog, I invite you to stay online, checking continuosly our beloved home XFN, that is just about to turn 1 year old. As part of this preparation to celebrate our first year we have been working hard to find the unseen, share the previously held, and of course share the happiness of spending one amazing year, one amazing ride... a once in a lifetime experience.
Starting this monday 10/13 (tee hee) we start updating EVERYTHING.
Look out for amazing interviews, unseen footage, polls, and everything XF related... Only the thrill of these happenings can make me feel as if I haven't been sneezing every 30 seconds since last night and that it hasn't been pouring out since 6 pm last night. To quote Mulder in Triangle... "I feel... Like Hell"
I feel I should be drinking meds, but if Tiff ain't taking anything for the neumonia, I'm not taking anything for this... yes she's crazy, and this is a shameless plug to try to make her take something. Number of days til XFN project deadline? 12 days!!! |
