Late on a September evening in 1993, The X-Files premiered on the Fox network. 16 years to the day later, XFN is very excited to wish it a happy sweet 16.
In celebration, Skype Philes has organized a special birthday event tonight and we invite you to comment here all day about what the series has come to mean to you.
Send us your pictures of how you are celebrating! They might just end up on XFN.
Update!
Kyle Anderson from the MTV newsroom shows The X-Files some love today. "The X-Files did everything right, perfectly balancing the tension of a thriller, the visceral punch of horror and just enough humor and will-they-or-won't-they romance to keep the whole series bouyant."

I remember watching the commercials for this new Show on the Fox Network called The X-Files. In fact, I have those commercials recorded on VHS and neatly tucked away in my vast collection of X-Files Memorbilia. You can say I enjoy the X-Files, I have an ongoing autograph collection that is now up to 220 different Actors & Actresses that appeared on the X-Files, and I don't stop my collection at the X-Files, I collect memorbilia from all of the Chris Carter shows. He has created the best shows that were on Broadcast TV during the 1990's, and still to this date, are my very favorite. The X-Files was created at the perfect time, with the American public trusting the Government less and less, and with catch phrases like The Government Denies Knowledge, Trust_No1, and my favorite...The Truth is Out There, it caught on right away, to make you want to tune in to see what the show was all about, and that's when it got it's hooks into you, because every new episode was better than the last. What put it over the top was, the ongoing Government Alien Conspiracy storyarc that ran through the show. Then, there are the Characters that you love to hate, like CGB Spender(He was my favorite Character other than Scully & Mulder)Well, I can hardly wait until the third X-Files feature Film, that if it goes by the Alien Storyarc, the third film will be released on December 21, 2012, with the Aliens returning to reclaim Earth. I'm getting excited just talking about it. Well, I wanted to wish David, Gillian, William B Davis, Chris Carter and everybody else that were involved in bring the X-Files into our homes week in and week out, all the best on 17 years of greatness, and hopefully, many more years to come!!! Remember, The Truth is Out There!!!
Thank You!

I love this show! I'm 21 years old, and can still remember watching the X-Files with my mom when I was little. I especially remember being TERRIFIED of the episode Home. I am hoping for another 2012 related movie. I think that would be AMAZING!

Best show ever, the whole cast was super, the stories, very well written, sure do miss the show and the cast, I don't think there will EVER be any kind of replacement that could come close to the quality of this show. I would love to see it back on the air along with the same cast!!!
awesome!
